For stable export programs, contracted capacity helps align factory loading, trucking pickup, customs declaration, terminal delivery, and destination delivery windows. The value is operational continuity, not only price control.
Before booking peak-season cargo, procurement teams should request practical evidence of capacity control. The goal is to understand how the forwarder protects space when the market becomes tight.
Ask whether the forwarder has carrier contracts on your trade lane, which carriers are used most often, how weekly allocations are managed, and what happens when a container is at risk of being rolled.
Ask for realistic loading probability during peak weeks rather than a vague guarantee. A professional forwarder should be able to explain the space plan, backup sailings, documentation cutoff, and communication process.
